On Friday, June 14, at 5 p.m., we would like to invite everyone to the Memorial House in Płońsk for a lecture by Krzysztof Bielawski entitled “What is worth knowing about Jewish cemeteries and funeral customs?”
Krzysztof Bielawski is a researcher of Jewish cemeteries and a publicist, the founder of the website www.cmentarze-zydowskie.pl, the author of articles published in, among others, “Kwartalnik Historii Żydów”, “Miasteczko Poznań”, “Spotkania z Zabytkami”, the annual “Zagłada Żydów. Studia i Materiały”. For many years he worked as a Jewish heritage specialist at the Historical Information Center of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, and is currently an employee of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage. Krzysztof Bielawski is also the author of texts on the permanent exhibition “Glance and recall!” in the Memorial House.
The event accompanies the temporary exhibition “Houses of Eternity” from the Galicia Jewish Museum dedicated to Jewish cemeteries, which can be visited at the Memorial House in Płońsk until June 29, 2024. More about the exhibition here (link).
