March of Silence

On October 24, 2008, at the initiative of the municipal authorities, the March of Silence was organized in Płońsk for the first time to commemorate the anniversary of the liquidation of the Jewish ghetto in Nazi-occupied Płońsk.

The march, the route of which runs through the city streets towards the railway station from where over 12,000 Jews were deported to Auschwitz, is organized annually with the participation of representatives of the Israeli Embassy, cultural institutions involved in popularizing knowledge about the history of the Polish Jewish community, representatives of the municipality and district authorities, clergy and youth from Płońsk schools, employees of local government institutions and residents of Płońsk.

A permanent element of the annual event is an ecumenical prayer. The march is also accompanied by other cultural events.
