On December 17-20, we invite students of primary schools in Płońsk and the region aged 7-10 to workshops at the Memorial House dedicated to Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights – it is one of the most important and joyful holidays in Judaism!
Hanukkah commemorates the miracle that occurred in the Jerusalem Temple during the Jewish uprising led by the Maccabee brothers against the Greeks during the reign of Antiochus IV. When the rebels managed to regain Jerusalem and were able to pray and offer sacrifices in the temple again, it turned out that the oil needed for the lamp at the altar was enough for only one day. However, a miracle happened and the lamp burned for the next eight days. To commemorate this miracle, during the Hanukkah holiday, for eight consecutive days in Jewish homes, candles are lit on the Hanukkiah – a candlestick with 8 arms.
During the workshops, children will not only learn what Hanukkah is, but also – in the workshop part – they will learn to play dreidel, a spinning top. This year, for playing we will use special tokens prepared by ‘Coś znajdziesz’ Handicraft Workshop and Store!
Registration for workshops is required by calling +48 882 872 837 (time of the workshops to be determined individually). The number of places is limited!
