On Tuesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m., we invite you to the Płońsk Memorial House for the opening of a temporary exhibition dedicated to Paula Ben-Gurion, titled “Just… Paula.”
Our exhibition tells the story of a woman whose quiet, unseen sacrifice enabled David Ben-Gurion to achieve his great accomplishments for the Jewish people. Paula was an anchor for her husband—his harshest critic and closest advisor. She was, as he himself claimed, his only safe haven in the world. Paula was also a proud, down-to-earth woman who remained entirely independent of the social conventions of her time. Although she dedicated her life to David’s Zionist mission, she maintained an authentic voice of her own throughout that sacrifice.
The exhibition is the result of extensive research conducted by Gabriela Nowak-Dąbrowska and draws upon materials such as photographs from the collection of the Ben-Gurion House in Tel Aviv, personal correspondence between Paula and David, and articles from international press.
The event is part of the Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage initiative, supported by AEPJ (European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage). The exhibition has been included in the program of this year’s European Days of Jewish Culture (EDJC).
